Lechal Smart Shoes Introduced in India

Another wearable is in the market. And it's none other than a smart 40,000 years old shoe that earlier had no other use than to protect your sole.
The first smart shoe is developed by an Indian startup, Ducere based in SecunderabadTelengana by the name of Lechal (a Hindi word meaning take me along). This smart shoe is Bluetooth enabled connected to your smartphone providing real-time fitness and navigational information. These shoes will be first available in stores in India starting from September and costs a little more than $100.
...

The shoe is synced to the Google maps through an app which guides user when and where to turn with simple vibrations either on the left or the right foot. Just set the destination on your phone, keep it in your pocket and follow the buzz.
Wall Street Journal remarked rather jokingly that its "India's answer to Google Glass" as Google Glass isn’t available in India, Indians will be the first to get a feel of the new wearable ready to launch in the market.
The shoes and removable in-soles are designed in India and manufactured in China. "We have already got orders for 25,000 pairs and expects to sell 100,000 by March", remarked Krispian Lawrence, co-founder and CEO of the company. They first designed the shoes keeping in mind the requirements of the visually impaired who rely on walking sticks but while testing realised that it had potential with normal folks as well. Joggers or tourists can just set the destination and keep their phones in pocket because as they move the buzz directs them to their destination.
Ducere is also tying up with non-profit organizations and eye hospitals to sell Lechal to visually-impaired at a low price.
