Unwrap time for Moto X and Moto G owners as Lollipop update goes Live

Its unwrap time for Moto owners in US. Motorola on Wednesday announced that it’s officially starting to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its latest batch of smartphones, officially beating out every other smartphone manufacturer to the task. It’s even technically beating Google to some of its Nexus devices, which are still awaiting the update. As of today, you can expect to start seeing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update notice hit your Moto X (2014), the Moto G (2014) U.S. GSM model and the Moto G (2014) global GSM retail model sold in the U.S. 

With this update you'll be getting everything, from Material Design to the new Lock screen and the Quick Settings plus the new style Notifications. Also, a new battery save function will help extend your battery life on all three of Motorola’s devices. 

Unfortunately there is no news for the 1st gen Moto owners or for those outside US but it would not be too late seeing that Motorola started pushing the updates 1 week after the Lollipop launch. Stay tuned for further news.

Moto Maxx now Official, Available now in Brazil for R$2199

After lot of speculation Moto Maxx is now official. Motorola just announced Moto Maxx as the international edition of the original Droid Turbo.

Just like the DROID Turbo, the Moto Maxx offers cutting edge specs and a tough if somewhat bulky design. It comes equipped with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 805 processor and a 3900mAh battery with fast charging. It’s also available with that same ballistic nylon back panel and offers a near-stock Android experience with some of Motorola’s own useful software on top. For a full Droid turbo review, check the link. 

As quoted “Moto Maxx is our most powerful and long-lasting smartphone to date”. And we totally agree with it. Moto Maxx can go multiple days without having to recharge. And when you do, new Turbo charging feature gives you up to eight additional hours in just 15 minutes! 

Moto Maxx will be available starting today in Brazil for R$2,199 and coming mid-November in Mexico. Moto Maxx will come to additional Latin American countries soon. Weather it will be launched in Asia and Europe nothing is known about that. But no worry we will update very soon.

Nexus 6 coming this November for ₹40K

After being listed on Flipkart it seems like the latest Nexus device is not far from our reach. Nexus 6 32 GB was listed on Flipkart few days back with a “coming soon” tag and it was already anticipated as all Motorola devices are available exclusively on Flipkart than why would Nexus 6 stand out. 

According to the latest report Nexus 6 will be coming to India on November 18th and it’s 32GB variant will be priced around `40,ooo. It will be available on Google Play and Flipkart as of now. But being a Nexus device it will not come as a surprise if it becomes available on Snapdeal and Amazon as well. 

A quick recap, the Nexus 6 runs on a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor with the Adreno 420 GPU and 3 GB RAM. Running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, the smartphone sports a 13 MP rear camera and has a 2 MP front camera. Powered by a 3220 mAh battery, the Nexus 6 comes with Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi, NFC and supports 4K video playback. 

Nexus 9 was already listed on Google Play few days back but that too with a “coming soon” tag. Hopefully we’ll be able to see those devices soon as India was in the few markets where these devices will be launched in the “first wave”. 

UPDATE

Nexus 6 now listed on Google Play for ₹44,000 for 32GB and ₹49,000 for 64 GB variants. Although its listed as "coming soon" which is in accordance with the earlier news of being available from mid-November. Stay tuned for further updates.

Droid Turbo - A Powerhouse smartphone by Motorola

Motorola was already ruling the smartphones market with the best line up from affordable Moto G to customizable Moto X and not to forget the giant Nexus 6 plus a sexy smartwatch, Moto 360. To add to this line up, Motorola launched the latest Droid phone, Droid Turbo with Verizon for $199.99 on contract for a 32GB model or $249.99 on contract for a 64GB version.

The DROID Turbo runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat instead of the brand new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, but you’ll find a Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz under the hood, 3GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of storage, a 5.3-inch display with a 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution (565ppi), a huge 3,900mAh battery that promises up to 48 hours of battery life, support for Cat. 4 LTE, a 21-megapixel camera capable of recording 4K video, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band Wi-Fi support and more. Basically, it can be considered as a scaled down model of Nexus 6. 

It will be available in metallic black, metallic red, or what Verizon calls a "ballistic" black, which has an even more textured back. 

Verizon has a few deals for the DROID Turbo in place. It’s offering $100 toward the price if you trade-in a working smartphone, and is waiving activation and upgrade fees for the device.  Additionally, Verizon Edge customers who upgraded before July 1 can pick up the DROID Turbo with the same Verizon Edge pricing as new customers. 

As far as global availability is considered, Droid Turbo might be launched as is evident from the invites for a November 5 event. Rumours are for a name change to Moto Maxx, resurrecting the Maxx brand, which is associated with some of the most long-lasting batteries in the smartphone history.

After making the first device to run Android Lollipop, Motorola is now ready to push the latest Android to it's smartphones. 

Recently, Motorola confirmed that this latest and greatest Android release will also come to their other devices as part of ongoing software strategy to provide fast updates to our pure Android experience. 

While Google has not yet publicly released Android Lollipop, they confirmed that the upgrade will come to:

2nd Gen Moto X pricing announced, available for Rs. 31,999 on Flipkart

After launching the their most popular smartphone Moto G (2nd Gen), Motorola India just announced the price of their latest flagship Moto X(2nd Gen). Moto X (2nd Gen) will cost starting from `31,999 and will be available to order from Flipkart starting today midnight.

Flipkart launched their latest flagship Moto X (2nd Gen) on 5th September at an event held in Chicago and New Delhi. The new version of Moto X had a lot of improvements at which its predecessor failed. 

First a look at its specifications.

• GPU: Adreno 330 
• RAM: 2GB 
• Storage: 16GB (no microSD card support) 
• Display: 5.2” 1080p Full HD 
• Camera: 13MP rear and 2MP front

Previous version of Moto X was in no way bad but people wanted more from a flagship device. A bigger screen, a better camera were some of the few things required. But this new Moto X is no way going to dis-hearten them. It boasts a full HD 5.2 inch display which is even bigger than the HTC One M8 but the build of the phone is such that it’s smaller in size. 

Surprisingly even after such a big change in the specifications the price of the smartphone is not changed that much. Previous version Moto X cost 23,999 and the new Moto X is of 31,999. So it is a steal at that price. It will be available for pre-order starting today midnight on Flipkart so be ready.

Moto G2 headed to India

Motorola is set to unveil the successor to the Moto G, dubbed the Moto G2, at an event later this week. And it looks like India will be one of the first countries to receive the device. Well it’s not surprising after the huge success which Motorola saw earlier with Moto X, Moto G and Moto E selling more than 1 million devices in the past 5 months. 

After a picture surfaced today of the Moto G2 retail packaging, it was certainly looking like the phone will be released to stores no longer after it’s announced. Adding even more to that theory is a new shipping manifest for a shipment of 70,200 units heading into India. The Indian import/export database Zauba shows a large shipment of “MOTOROLA MOTO G [MOBILE PHONES]” making their way into India on Aug. 30. While the document it only lists it as the Moto G, the model number is shown as XT1068, which lines up with the rumoured model number for the Moto G2. 

The Zauba listing has the price of the Moto G successor at `10,600 ($175), which is lesser than the import price of the original Moto G, which was `10,900. The price suggests that the new Moto G will be available for around the same as the 16 GB variant of the Moto G after the added taxes, retailer margin and all, which is available for `13,999 ($130) in the country. To ensure that the stocks are available for the buyers, more than 60,000 black Moto G2 handsets and roughly 14,000 white Moto G2 units are seemingly imported. 

As per the rumours, the new Moto G is expected to feature a 5-inch 720p HD display, Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, microSD card slot and Android 4.4.4.

Motorola to launch 8 devices by Christmas this year

Its known to all that Motorola is cooking up a lot of devices but the recent news from the most trusted source for Motorola info i.e. TKTechNews, has given us a definite idea on how busy the next 4 months for Motorola will going to be. According to them Motorola might be having upto 8 devices that may show up before 2014 ends. These include DROID, DROID Maxx, DROID Turbo, Moto X+1, Moto G, Moto X Play, Moto S, and even a Nexus device. 

The first 2 in the above list may be launched on 5th September at a company event in New Delhi as well as in Chicago. So it is a not a question as why one should not be excited. And did you notice that the above list does not include Moto 360. So it makes 9 Motorola devices in total. Well it’s probably because company has already unveiled it at Google I/O is it may be just a commercial launch. 

The odd thing is how some of the devices are dependent on others. Word has it that if the X+1 does well, the DROID Turbo may be scrapped, and only one of either the X Play or Moto S could be released, depending on the display size users like. However, regardless of if the 5.9-inch Moto S is scrapped in favour of the 5.2-inch Moto X Play, the Motorola Nexus will still be 5.9-inches and be very similar to the larger Moto S. 

The company hasn’t brought any of its devices under the Droid brand to India yet, but considering its new found interest in the country, things could change. Motorola had previously held the global launch event for the Moto E smartphone in India, while the Moto G sold over 1 million units here in less than five months and even the company’s flagship, Moto X has done quite well in that segment. 

Nevertheless, with 9 devices at the brink of entering the market, Motorola is looking at a very busy second half of 2014.
