Jolla officially launched in India, available exclusively on Snapdeal

Jolla is now officially entered the Indian market with Sailfish OS smartphone. The smartphone is priced `16,499 and is available exclusively on Snapdeal.
Sailfaish OS is born from Nokia’s Meego. This OS heavily relies on gestures. Learning this smartphone is quite easy as everything is done using gestures without any physical button on the device. And the best part, Sailfish is compatible with Android applications which will definitely make it desirable for many enthusiasts which you can download via the Yandex and Aptoide Stores.

Reception of the Jolla smartphone and Sailfish OS in India is uncertain. But with many new OS setting foot in the country it’s not difficult to see that it might find quite a success here too. Let’s see it with the time.

Jolla Enters India with a deal with Sanpdeal


One Finnish smartphone manufacturer is about to go into the history books and another is launching in India. Microsoft is killing Nokia’s Android Project and firing about 18,000 employees making it one of the biggest layoffs in the history and Jolla Smartphones is making its way into the country very soon.
Finnish smartphone company Jolla has partnered with Indian e-commerce giant Snapdeal to launch in India. Jolla’s smartphones runs Sailfish OS which evolved from Nokia backed OS, Meego. Well Nokia won’t be totally lost after all.
The Jolla smartphones with its distinct button-less design. It’s a gesture heavy interface. Another feature that makes it quite a catch is its compatibility with Android Applications which will make it desirable for many enthusiast. “India is the rising smartphone market of the world and we look forward to welcoming many new Jolla fans across the country,” said Sami Pienimäki, co-founder and CMO of Jolla, which was founded in 2011.
With Firefox OS launching this July and Sailfish OS in line, Indian customers will get quite a variety in terms of OS. “The market in India offers few choices in terms of mobile operating systems. Jolla with its innovative Sailfish OS introduces an entirely new user experience to consumers. Jolla offers a unique smartphone experience both in terms of hardware and software. We look forward to a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship”, said Kunal Bahl, co-founder and CEO of Snapdeal.

Indian mobile market is now giving a huge number of choices to the consumers in terms of budget smartphones and recent foray of companies like Asus, Xiaomi and coming of Firefox has just raised the bar.
