Purse for you Cards : Coin

Well it’s like keeping so many cards in your purse will be a thing of past. We’ve been reading that smartphone solutions are coming but in a world dominant of digital screens plastic still rules in the pocket. But now a startup, Coin has taken the initiative to take them all out.

We all have many cards gist card, work card, shopping cards and many more. Carry them all is quite cumbersome. Coin is developed a connected card using Bluetooth Low Energy – which is of same size as of your normal card but with a few other added benefits. It’s capable of storing all you cards in a single one. Quite unbelievable right!

It has a small dongle bundled with a smartphone app (Android and iOS) through which all cards can be uploaded in Coin. It uses 128-bit encryption and with the app you can add, delete your cards. The process as promised is quite easy. Just attach the dongle to your phone. Swipe the card and take a pic to recognize it. And done. Also if after paying you forget it behind it will also alert you on your smartphone.

How to choose which card you want to pay from? Coin has a small display which makes it easy. Just scroll through your cards and when you find one just hand it over to pay from it. It will never demagnetize and is also water and shock proof.

After crowdfunding (at $50) it was promised to be delivered in the summers’14 but it wasn’t. But recently a mail from Coin’s CEO indicated that things are moving smoothly and we can hope to see it in our hands very soon.
