There were rumours
that Google’s Nexus line may be heading towards its end and Android Silver was
in line to replace it. Also HTC’s Nexus device codenamed “Volantis” was
rumoured to be a 9-inch tablet was assumed to be the last Nexus device. But the
recent rumours show a whole different story. Presumably a new Nexus device is
in line and is being developed by none other than Motorola.
According to the
reports Motorola is working on a 5.9-inch Nexus device codenamed “Shamu” and if
the previous Nexus device are to be seen these are named after fishes. Nexus 5
was “Hammerhead” and Nexus 7(2014) was “Razor” in AOSP code base. It’s also targeted
for a November release.
No other specs were
mentioned other than a massive 5.9-inch display. Android Police report also said that it may even have a
fingerprint scanner. If these rumours are true than Motorola’s Nexus might give
a tough time to the flagship smartphones like LG G3, HTC One (M8) and Sony Xperia
Z3 to maintain their top position as the best smartphone of 2014.
